Paul Walter Hausz, 89, of Lanesville, passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at Bennett Place in New Albany, Indiana. He was born March 16, 1927, in Lanesville, Indiana, to the late Frederick G. and Anna B. Schmidt Hausz. He was a farmer, was formerly employed at U.S. Steel Homes in New Albany, was retired after 29 years from the PSI Gallagher Station in New Albany, was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lanesville, and was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII where he served as a Sergeant.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 59 years, Margel Lois Miller Hausz; his brother, Klemens Hausz; and his sisters, Ruth Lauf, Alliene Campbell and Fern Willbrand.
Survivors include his daughters, Karen Harbeson (Richert) and Connie Reising (Lee) both of Corydon, Kathy Albin (Rick) of Lanesville, and Judi Knowles-Duncan (Bradley) of Anderson, Indiana; his grandchildren, Michele Elzy, Russell Harbeson, Megan Reising, Ashley Monroy, Scott Albin, and Madison, Blake and Sydney Duncan; and his great grandchildren, Breanna, Brenden, Brayden, Brylee, Brenley and Bryce Harbeson, Brennan, Adison, Collin and Chloe Elzy, and Isaiah, Logan and William Monroy.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 21, 2017, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lanesville. Pastor Ronald Richeson will officiate. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon and after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church or School.
Pallbearers will be Rick Albin, Richert Harbeson, Russell Harbeson, Bradley Duncan, Lee Reising and Jarred Elzy. Honorary pallbearer will be Michele Elzy.
