Steven Lee Zabel, 61, of Lanesville, Indiana, died Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at Clark Memorial Hospital in Jeffersonville, Indiana.  He was born August 12, 1954, in Corydon, Indiana.  He was a truck driver, a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lanesville, and was an avid fan of NASCAR, motorcycles and IU.

He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Lee Zabel; his daughter, Desiree Coy; his brother, Tony James Zabel; and his sister, Cindy Ruth Zabel.

Survivors include his father and step mother, Darrell W. and Bertha Marking Zabel; his mother, Shirley Benson Reasor; his brother, Todd Allen Zabel; his sister, Becky Jean Suddeth; his stepson, John Showalter; his stepdaughter, Cheryl Gresham; his uncles, Rick Zabel and Terry Zabel; his aunt, Janet Ferguson; his nieces and nephews, Taylor Suddeth, Derrian Jo Zabel, Matthew Phillip Zabel, and Kaden Darrell Zabel; and his great niece, Kynnadi Thomas.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lanesville.  Pastor Christopher Truelsen and Pastor Ronald Richeson will officiate.  Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon and after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the church.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Pallbearers will be Todd and Rick Zabel, Robert Suddeth, Randy Hussung, Nick Acton, Frank Price, Frank Law and Mark Lambertus.
