Diane Dropsey Miller, 87, of Corydon, died Monday, March 20, 2017, at her home in Corydon, surrounded by her loving family.  She was born April 29, 1929, in Salem, Indiana, to the late Lawrence and Catherine Butler Dropsey.  Diane was raised in Salem and eventually moved to Corydon, with her boys, where she started out at Harrison County Hospital, where she worked for many years, eventually becoming the director of nursing and an associate executive director.  During her tenure at HCH, she achieved distinction in her field as president of the Indiana Society of Nursing Service Administration.  She graduated from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1952, was an active member of the Corydon United Methodist Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution, was awarded the Business and Professional Women’s “Woman of the Year”, and was listed in the “Book of Who’s Who in American Women.”

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, William Lawrence “Bill” Miller; her brothers, David and John Dorsey; and her sister, Candace Methot.

 

Survivors include her sons, Michael G. Miller (Aimee) of Bloomington, Indiana, Phillip A. Miller (Vickie) of Mauckport, and David F.B. Miller (Julie) of Nashville, Indiana; her brother, Richard Dorsey of Rockford, Michigan; her sisters, Pam Gibson of Hobart, Indiana and Betsy Goffney of Fort Myers, Florida; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.

 

There will be a memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.

 

Visitation will be after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
