William E. Baker, 87, of Corydon, Indiana, died Friday, September 3, 2021, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Indiana. He was born December 1, 1933, in Lanesville, Indiana, to the late Morris Wallen and Lora “Ethel” Doan Baker. He was a retired Lt. Col. of the United States Air Force, having served in Vietnam, was a member of the Masonic Lodge, the Lanesville United Methodist Church, and the Harrison County Board of Zoning Appeals, was a former chairman of the board of directors of Farmer’s State Bank in Lanesville, and was passionate about playing the piano and flying powered parachutes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Stephen W. Baker; and his brothers, Byron, Paul and Morris J. “Pat” Baker.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Shelia Ann Winsor Baker; his sons, Robert M. Baker (Shelly) of Floyds Knobs, Indiana and Bradley W. Baker of Louisville, Kentucky; his daughters, Rebecca Ann Brouwer (Greg) of Noblesville, Indiana and Holli S. Castetter (Bill) of Corydon; ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon. Pastor George Ross will officiate. Burial will be in Lanesville Protestant Cemetery near Lanesville.
Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday and after 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to Lanesville Christian Church or Lanesville Volunteer Fire Department.
Pallbearers will be Robert Baker, Brad Baker, Bill Castetter, Doug Castetter, Alex Baker and Jordan Lewis.
