Wilfred Julius “Arkie” Blank, 96, of Lanesville, Indiana, died Monday, November 25, 2024, at Indian Creek Healthcare Center in Corydon. He was born September 25, 1928, in Lanesville, to the late Julius Phillip and Lelia Schoen Blank. He was retired from B.F. Goodrich in Louisville, Kentucky, was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church near Lanesville, the Hornickel Post American Legion #379 in Elizabeth, Indiana, and the Lanesville Heritage Committee, was a past chairman and member of the Lanesville Athletic Club, and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Dennis Jerome Blank; his brothers, Darrell and Herman Blank; and his sisters, Doris Johnston and Carmen Shewmaker.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Velva J. Hoover Blank; his brothers, Omar, Alvin, and Oscar Blank; and his sisters, Suzanne Windell, Bernice Sonner and Lucille Stewart.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Lanesville. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. Monday and from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
