Velma J. Higginbotham

Velma J. Higginbotham, 90, of Corydon, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 26, 2024, at BeeHive Homes of Georgetown in Georgetown, Indiana.  She was born March 28, 1934, near Georgetown, to the late George and Zelda Gresham Yeager.  She worked at Woolworth's in New Albany, Indiana, at Berlins Department Store in Corydon, at Walmart in Corydon, and  loved to do needlework and quilting.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John C. Higginbotham; her brother, Francis Irvin Yeager; and her sister, Leora May Myers.

Survivors include her daughters, Vickie Rowe (Stephen) of New Albany, Indiana and Cheryl Royalty (Mike) of Elizabeth, Indiana; her granddaughter, Shelby Moser (Jonathan); her great grandchildren, Emma & Delilah Moser; her sister, Darlene McPherson (Herman) of Lanesville, Indiana; and her brother-in-law, Jerry Myers of Sellersburg, Indiana.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, December 30, 2024, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Rev. Lary Cropper will officiate.  Burial will be in Fogel Farish Cemetery at White Cross Church in New Middletown, Indiana.

Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Sunday and after 10:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Stephen Rowe, Mike Royalty, Jonathan Moser, Brian Myers, Rusty McCubbins and Bruce Dennison.  Honorary pallbearer will be Paul McPherson.
