Thomas Ray "Tom" Fields, Sr. Obituary

Thomas Ray “Tom” Fields, Sr., 78, of Corydon, Indiana, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at his home in Corydon.

Born on December 28, 1946, in Appalachia, Virginia, to the late Lawrence Campbell Fields and Bessie Barnett Fields, Tom grew up with deep Appalachian roots and a strong sense of community. He carried those values with him throughout his life.

Tom proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from October 1966 through July 1969. After returning home, he began a long and distinguished career in banking including serving as President of English State Bank and President of Indiana Community Bankers Association.

Tom served his community in various organizations such as Kiwanis and Lions Club.  He was also a 32nd degree Freemason. He received numerous honors over the years, including the Sagamore of the Wabash signed by Governor Frank O’Bannon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Foy Fields and Larry Fields Jr.; and his twin sister, Trudy Summers.

Tom was an avid bass fisherman.  He loved spending time on the water making memories with his friends and family in pursuit of the one that got away.

Tom’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his sons, Thomas Ray “Tom” Fields II and Adam Fields (Kasey); his daughters, Tiffany Fields and Michelle Fish; his grandchildren, Isabella, Abel, Anna, Willa, Banks and Kylie; and his loving companion, Louise “Lou” Spencer.
