Shirley J. Thompson, 80, of New Middletown, Indiana, died Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Indiana.  She was born February 15, 1946, in Franklin, Kentucky, to the late James Edgar and Sarah Elnora Cantor Mayes.  She was the owner, with her husband, of Holly’s Just Like Home Laundry in Corydon, Indiana. 

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Homer Douglas Thompson; her daughters, Rhonda L. Masterson and Robin T. Cobb; her grandsons, Ricky Cobb & Jordan Cobb; and 1 great grandson.

 

Survivors include her brother, Dan E. Mayes; her grandchildren, Douglas Thompson (Sarah), Anthony Thompson, Stephanie Masterson (Thomas), Daniel Thompson, Rachel Zimmerman (Jacob), Sarah Thompson (Barry), Amber Thompson (Chris), Katelyn Marlow (Stephanie), Jayden Cobb, Jessica Cobb, Jeremy Goodman, John Goodman, Rebecca Marlow (Sadie), Kenley King and Brianna Masterson; and 16 great grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Rev. Ted Chalk will officiate.  Burial will be in New Middletown White Cross Church Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

 

Pallbearers will be Douglas Thompson, Thomas Masterson, Chris Pearson, Jeremy Goodman, Barry King and Jayden Cobb.
