Samuel Paul “Sammy” Riley, 71, of Corydon, Indiana, died Thursday, October 24, 2024, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Indiana. He was born April 19, 1953, in New Albany, to the late Samuel Harrison Riley, Jr. and Mary Lilly Mattingly Riley. He was employed at Daramic for 31 years, involved in horse contesting at the Old Capital Saddle Club and a member of the Harrison County Horseshoe Pitching Association and St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Daniel Riley.
Survivors include his daughters, Mary Ann Alcorn (Rusty) of Corydon, Tammy Bennett (Shane) of Corydon and Sara Beth Fuller of Floyd Knobs, Indiana; his grandchildren, Kristen Alcorn, Cody Bennett (Taylor), Keila Higdon (Colin), Jarrett Alcorn, Ethan Fuller and Alexis Fuller; his great grandson, Tyler Bennett; and his brothers, Gene Wallace “Beaver” Riley (Cathy) and Mark Riley both of Corydon.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon. Deacon Tim Elder will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Corydon.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Cody Bennett, Ethan Fuller, Gene Wallace “Beaver” Riley, Colin Higdon, Rusty Alcorn and Shane Bennett.
