Ruth Dexter Kintner Obituary

Ruth Dexter Kintner, of Depauw, Indiana, died Thursday, June 12, 2025, at her home near Depauw, Indiana.  Ruth was born in Taunton, Massachusetts on February 5, 1928 and lived to be 97 years old.  She met her husband Ross during the war when he was stationed in Massachusetts to be deployed.  Ruth lived through the Second World War and the Great Depression.  She was baptized in the Baptist church in Massachusetts with her best friend Irma at a young age.  She came to Indiana after the war to be married to her husband Ross at the age of seventeen.  She worked on the farm and later went to work at Keller’s where she made chairs.  Later she went into business in a grocery store.  She retired and lived in Depauw surrounded by her children and family.  Ruth’s farm was farmed out at that time.  She loved to play Bingo and made many friends along the way.  Ruth was one of the kindest and most giving people we know.  She was always available to help her children and grandchildren.  Her children and grandchildren enjoyed helping her on the farm and loved to be at her house to ride on her Kawasaki mule to the farm.  The kids also enjoyed eating “Granny’s”  cooking or playing card games with her on a Saturday night.  She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Dexter and Una Frail Dexter; her husband, Merele Ross Kintner, Sr.; her sons, Roger Dale Kintner and Merele Ross Kintner, Jr. and his wife, Mary; her son-in-law, Paul Hadley; her granddaughters, Angela Satterfield and Jennifer Gardner; her brothers, Burpee and George Dexter; and her sisters, Irene O’Connor and Jeanette Wisz.
