Roxy Marie Watson

Roxy Marie Watson, 73, of Corydon, Indiana, was called home on Sunday, June 21, 2026.  Roxy was born August 16, 1952, in Corydon, Indiana, to the late Norval Lee Watson and Mary Ruth Thevenot Watson.  She is survived by her brother, Claude Watson (George Ann). 

Roxy stayed in Corydon through high school, then attended Taylor University in Upland, Indiana.  She graduated with a degree in Education.  She performed student teaching for one year at Lombard Jr. High School in Galesburg, Illinois, then was hired into the Indianapolis Public School system, where she taught at various schools for over 30 years and continued to pursue her educational upgrades.  She mostly taught Math, up to and including Calculus, French, and other classes as needed.  Roxy loved traveling, especially to Washington D.C., and was able to visit France multiple times with the French Club at school.

While in Indianapolis, she was active with the Irvington United Methodist Church.  Among her projects was the Bell Choir, which she was quite proud of.

In 2010, she returned to Corydon to assist her father, who had been stricken with cancer.  Upon his passing in 2011, she got involved in volunteering with several organizations.  She worked with Bark for Life, which is part of the American Cancer Society.  She also worked with various charitable organizations and some animal welfare organizations.  Roxy was truly a cat lady and loved her kitties.

She started having health issues a few years ago, but still did what she could for the charities.  Eventually, her medical problems became too great to continue with that work, but she continued to support them financially and with advice.

She also kept her sense of humor until the very end.  In the hospital, one of the doctors and two of the nurses thought her brother was her son.  She got a good laugh out of that.   

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Gary and Amy Valentine will officiate.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery near Corydon.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
