Ronald L. Bowers Obituary

With heavy and humble hearts, we share this message of the loss of our beloved family member, Retired Naval Marine Corpsmen E-6 Ronald L. Bowers.  He passed quietly at his home on October 2, 2025.  He resided in Palmyra, Indiana for over fifty years.  His legacy will live on in our hearts.  We will truly miss all the stories, love and laughter that he shared with us over the years and forever in our hearts.  Rest easy Marine, till we meet again someday.

 

Ronald was born on December 10, 1940, in West Frankfort, Illinois.  After his retirement from the U. S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps, he was retired from the Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky.  He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Corydon, Indiana, the War of 1812 Yellow Jackets in Corydon, and the Tomahawk Brotherhood in Mauckport, Indiana, where his camp name was “Badger” and his wife, Frances’s name was “Clover”.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon O. Bowers and Dorothy B. Gifford.

 

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Frances Earlene McKee Bowers; his sons, Ronald Lee Bowers II (Jenny) and Vernon Keith Bowers; his daughter, Heidi Earlene Meredith; his grandchildren, Brandon L. Bowers, Brooke N. Bowers, Levi J. Bowers, Brittany Bozkurt, Hillary Bryant, and Amanda Burke; 6 great grandchildren; his sister in law, P.J. Lugo; 4 nephews and 1 niece.

 

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2025, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Burial will be in Palmyra Cemetery in Palmyra, Indiana.

 

Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
