Rita D. Culver, 71, of Alton, Indiana, died Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Indiana.  She was born September 10, 1954, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Leroy and Priscilla “Ruth” Sheckells Smith.  She was a member of Holy Mount Church near Alton and helped maintain many local cemeteries.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Ryan “Josh” Smith and Roy L. Smith.

 

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Marvin E. Culver; her sons, Zachary F. Culver and Trenton L. Culver; her brother, Roger W. Smith (Polly); her sisters, Becky L. Wolfe (Pete) and Reena Ruff (Hank); and her grandchildren, Maliya Culver, Zander Culver, Beckett Culver, Preston Phillips, Rylee Culver, Colton Roby and Paisley Roby.

 

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Burial will be in Bloom Riddle Cemetery near Alton.

 

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday and after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

 

Pallbearers will be Zac Culver, Wayne Bowden, Travis Wolfe, Caleb Smith, Marty Ruff, Michael Rogers, Tim Anderson, Alan Ruff, Steven Smith and Chris Smith.  Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

 

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to Holy Mount Church.
