Rev. Lewis Edward "Smitty" Smith, 85, of Texarkana, Arkansas, formerly of Harrison County, Indiana, died Friday, July 29, 2022, at St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. He was born November 11, 1936, in Harrison County, to the late Cort E. and Elsie Wiseman Smith. He was a member of the Bible Missionary Church where he had served as a minister for 50 years. He was a man of many talents and excelled as a Master Carpenter.
He was preceded in death by brother; Lonnie Smith, brother & sister in laws Delbert Duke, Donna Duke, Jesse Briles and Betty Briles.
Survivors include his wife of almost 68 years, Hazel Mae (Briles) Smith; his son, Allen Ray Smith (Elizabeth) of Tallahassee, Florida; his daughters, Sharon Elaine Bardwell (Skeeter) of Texarkana, Arkansas and Valerie Sue Stanger (Charles) of Blytheville, Arkansas; his grandchildren, Robin (Brad) Taylor, Lisa (Jonathan) Crane, Andrew (Rachel) Stanger, Stephanie (Daniel) Somerlot, Jesse Joed Smith and Christopher Stanger; his great grandchildren, Brayden Taylor, Brooklynne Taylor, Jalanna Crane, Faith Stanger and Karrah Stanger; his brother, Denzil Smith; and his sisters, Ruth Wright, Wanda Weaver and Kelta Sherman.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery near Corydon.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday and after 8:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Bradley Taylor, Jonathan Crane, Andrew Stanger, Jesse Joed Smith, Christopher Stanger and Brayden Taylor.
