Ray William Allen, 61, of Corydon, died Monday, April 11, 2022, at his home surrounded by family near Corydon. He was born November 5, 1960, in Verdon, France, to Jean Spalding Allen and the late Richard “Pat” Allen. He attended Saint Joseph School for grades 1-8, where he was still a member of Saint Joseph Church in Corydon, and graduated mid-term from North Harrison High School class of ‘79. He went on to become a Class A welder with Logan Company and Munich Welding. He was a quality control specialist with Phoenix Process Equipment Company in Louisville where he has worked for the last twenty-nine years. Ray was known for his hard work no matter what the job was. He loved baling hay in the summer and had fond memories being in the hayfield with the cousins and neighbors. He was known in the neighborhood for the large teepee stacks of wood on the corner. He loved riding horses with the cousins and family. He would always make time to help any family, friend or neighbor in need without hesitation. The number one event he looked forward to every year was the Lanesville Heritage. His love for everything Massey Ferguson showed through from the tractor that he owned to the hat that we wore. He was a proud member of the Ferguson Enthusiasts of North America.
He was preceded in death by his father; his sister, Cathy Powell; and his brother in law, Claude “Sarge” Powell.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Karen L. Roution Allen; his mother of Corydon; his son, Nick Allen (Amanda) of Corydon; his daughter, Kari Rae Sullivan (Zack) of Corydon; his brothers, John Allen (Michele) of Leavenworth and Tony Allen of Corydon; his sister, Diane Gravitt (Gary) of Georgetown, Indiana; and his grandchildren, Clayton, Kylie, Emma, Massie, Josie and Luke.
His Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon. Father Kyle Rodden will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Corydon.
Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, 9:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
