Phyllis K. Chitwood

Phyllis K. Chitwood, 87, of Corydon, died Friday, August 4, 2023, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Indiana.  She was born April 16, 1936, in Corydon, to the late George Alva Heishman and Martha Jane Boley Heishman.  She was a retired clerk at the Corydon Post Office.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her daughter, Jolonda Kaye Thomas.

Survivors include her husband, John Ewell Chitwood, Jr.; her son, Casey Ray Boss (Jane) of Sierra Vista, Arizona; her daughter, Janet Sue Luther (David Wayne Bolen) of Corydon; her step son, Noah Ewell Chitwood (Lori) of Louisville, Kentucky; her step daughter, Lori Rule Chitwood of Louisville; her grandchildren, Timothy Boss, Logan Boss, Allison Page, Abbie Jones, Misty Boone, Kaye Boone, and Nikki Boone;  12 great grandchildren; and 4 step grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Pastor Tim Fleace will officiate.  Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday and after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to Oak Grove Church near Corydon.

Pallbearers will be Casey Boss, Noah Chitwood, Tim Boss, Logan Boss, Michael Jones, and David Wayne Bolen.
