On the afternoon of May 27th, Beau and Owen James, two beautiful young brothers, suddenly left this world, along with their father Kyle James. God decided that they had fulfilled their purpose in life, and it was their time to leave. This was so much sooner than everyone around them was ready. Owen and Beau touched the lives of everyone they met, changing them for the better. They were both mama’s boys, always wanting to help. They shared many things in this life such as the love of family, the outdoors, shooting their bows and showing in 4H. Although they were close, they were also very different-each with his own unique personality.
Owen Raymond James
Born November 10, 2010, Owen was tall with curly blonde hair and big blue eyes that could see right into your heart. He was very athletic, even though he looked like he was all arms and legs. In fact, that’s how he got the nickname “Bones” from his teammates. He was a quiet, but very social young man. To the outside world he appeared to be in his own little world. However, those who knew him well, knew that he listened to every word and paid attention to everything going on around him. He was a great friend and great listener to anyone who needed it. He wanted to go into the military when he grew up, so he could protect everyone.
Beau Raymond James
Born September 19, 2012, Beau had straight brown hair, big brown eyes and a strong build. His strength was obvious when he hit the ball so far in baseball. Even though he was more of a home body he never met a stranger. He had a strong urge to stand up for what is right and to not let anyone around him feel alone. He was an old wise soul and had a perspective on life much more mature than his years here on earth. He loved hunting and fishing and had a goal in life to become a farmer for domestic animals and wildlife.
Owen and Beau are survived by their mother Gretchen James, sisters Trista and Addison James, stepmother Emily James, grandparents Robert and Kitty Baumgart; Larry and Marlene James, aunts Greta (Kiel) Schneider; Kristy (Brian) Herr, uncles Greg (Sheree) Baumgart; Grant Baumgart, cousins CJ and Hunter Baumgart, Weston and Landon Schneider, Jeret, Josey, Jenna and Jaclyn Herr.
The family would like to honor Owen and Beau by setting up a nonprofit called Adopt-An-Athlete. This organization would recognize children with athletic dreams but no strong adult influence in their lives to teach, practice and play with them. A dream of their mother, Gretchen James, Adopt-An-Athlete will be launched in the near future. Contributions may be made in care of the Lanesville Jaycees.
Funeral services for Owen and Beau will be at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Lanesville, Indiana. Rev. Mark Carnahan will officiate. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. EST Sunday and from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Monday at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
