Mildred L. Newton, 84, of Corydon, Indiana died Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Indiana.  She was born February 11, 1939, in Breckinridge County, Kentucky, to the late Paul and Roxie Beard Miller.  She worked as a child caregiver, was formerly employed at IGA and Wendy’s both in Corydon and was a member of Lincoln Hills Christian Church in Corydon.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Reid Ledford and Pierce Newton; her companion, Don Henkel; and her sisters, Charlene Arvin and Bessie Leary.

 

Survivors include her sons, Reid Ledford, Jr. (Sharon) of Corydon and Nevin Ledford (Christie) of Leavenworth, Indiana; her daughters, Karen Hardsaw (Clark) of Corydon and Reida Fleace (Tony) of Mauckport, Indiana; her sister, Beulah Royse (Fred)  of Corydon; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. (EST) Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at Walnut Grove Baptist Church near Irvington, Kentucky.  Pastor Allen Edwards will officiate.  Burial will be in Walnut Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 22, 2024, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.

 

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Ledford, Clayton Hardsaw, Matt Weathers, Stacy Sailor, Dalton Ledford, and Taylor Wolfe.  Honorary pallbearers will be Liz Fleace, Paula Saulman, Missy Sailor, and Stacey Bagwell.

 

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to Walnut Grove Baptist Church or Lincoln Hills Christian Church.
