Michael H. Raley

Michael H. Raley, 72, of Corydon, died Saturday, October 2, 2021, at his home near Corydon.  He was born June 20, 1949, in Rosine, Kentucky, to the late Joyce Pendleton Raley and Clara Marie Leach Raley.  He was formerly employed at Johnstone Supply and Plumbers Supply Co. both in Louisville, was a volunteer for the Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville, was a past department commander of the MOPH for the State of Kentucky and the MOPH Bluegrass Chapter #146 in Louisville, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division having been awarded the Purple Heart Medal, the Bronze Star Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sandra Sue Davis Raley; his brother, J.C. Raley; and his sisters, Nancy Dennison and Patricia Raley.

Survivors include his daughters, Melissa Johnson (Allen) of Lexington, Kentucky and Kimberly Dawson of Corydon; his “other daughter”, Patti Traughber; his grandchildren, Rebecca Alcorn (Chris), Ryan Johnson, Kristin Johnson, Brett Dawson (Michaela), Stephanie Marlow (Katie), Megan Dawson, Stephan Traughber, Casey Traughber (Derek), and Dalton Burden; his great grandchildren, Elijah, Cami, Ryder, Harper, Jaxon, Sunny, River, and Tobi; and his loving companion, Gwen Pyle.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2021, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Chaplain Kyle Lankford will officiate.  Burial will be in Perseverance Chapel Cemetery near Corydon.

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
