Melvin M. King, Sr., 86, of Laconia, died Thursday, December 24, 2020, at Harrison Healthcare Center in Corydon. He was born September 5, 1934, in Harrison County, Indiana, to the late Jerome and Helen Miller King. He was a farmer and a truck driver with Dealer’s Transport, and was a member of Union Chapel Christian Church, the Redmens Lodge and the Lions Club all in Laconia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jimmie Gertrude Kingsley King; his son, Melvin M. King, Jr.; and his brothers, Edsel and Jerry King.
Survivors include his son, Gary W. King (Linda) of Laconia; his daughter in law, Lori King (Roger Bierly) of Laconia; his brothers, Wayne King (Pam) of Floyds Knobs, Indiana and Hugh “Jim” King (Bonnie) of Lanesville, Indiana; his sisters, Delores May (Glen) of Georgetown, Indiana and Myrna Williar of Greenville, Indiana; his grandchildren, Jamie King (Josh Deweese), Brittany Evans (Nick), Justin King (Katie), and Ashley King; and his great grandchildren, Dillon William Crawford, Dawson Bradley Crawford, Elizabeth Lee Evans, and Katelyn Grace Evans.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon. Brother Ron Stuart will officiate. Burial will be in Old Goshen Cemetery near Laconia.
Visitation will be from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday and after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to Union Chapel Christian Church or the American Cancer Society.
Pallbearers will be Maurice May, Julian King, Greg King, Kevin Williar, Robert King, and Justin King. Honorary pallbearers will be Nick Evans, Josh Deweese, Roger Bierly, and Dillon Crawford.
