Maxine E. "Max" Miller

Maxine E. “Max” Miller, 79, of Starlight, Indiana, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, June 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.  Born October 25, 1946, in Louisville, Kentucky, Maxine was the daughter of the late John and Darlene Vezolles Peter.  Throughout her life, Maxine dedicated herself to raising her family and caring for others.  Whether through her work cleaning homes or through her warm and welcoming nature, she touched countless lives with her kindness and generosity.  A woman of strong faith, she was a longtime member of St. Mary Navilleton Church serving in the choir and various committees over the years.  She was a graduate of Providence High School class of 1964 and member of the Telephone Pioneers alongside her husband, Norman.

Maxine was known for her strong work ethic, deep faith, and unwavering devotion to her family.  She found her greatest joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, whom she lovingly called her “gifts from God.”  Together, Maxine and Norman built a loving family and shared 61 years of marriage filled with faith, friendship, and devotion.  Their home was always open to family and friends, and she was happiest when surrounded by those she loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother-in-law, John Huffman.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Norman J. Miller; her son, Norman Keith Miller (Susan); her daughters, Melissa A. Kochert (David) and Tricia M. Love (Todd); her sister, Bernardine “Bunny” Huffman; her stepbrother, Ivan Peter; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will be held on June 28, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Mary Navilleton Church, 7500 Navilleton Road, Floyds Knobs, Indiana  47119.  A reception and celebration of life will follow in the Parish Hall.
