Matthew S. Hamblen Obituary

Matthew S. Hamblen, 56, of Lanesville, died Monday, March 7, 2022, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon.  He was born April 13, 1965, in Bluffton, Indiana, to the late Donald L. and Clara L. Baker Hamblen.  He was currently the Director of Aquatics and Facilities with the YMCA of Harrison County in Corydon, was formerly employed with the American Red Cross, was the swim coach for Corydon Central Junior/Senior High School, was a soccer coach for the YMCA, was currently the president of the Lanesville Lion’s Club, and formerly attended Pfrimmer’s Chapel United Methodist Church near Corydon. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his infant sister, Michele Yvette Hamblen.

 

Survivors include his son, Jacob Hamblen; his daughter, Julia Hamblen; his brothers, Donald Kent Hamblem (Anna) and Stuart W. Hamblen (Chris); and his sisters, Elaine Y. Hamblen Haines and Kaye M. Walraven (Jake).

 

There will be a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 5231 State Road 62, Georgetown, Indiana 47112, with a celebration of life reception to follow at the church.  Pastor Andrew Becker will officiate.

 

Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon is in charge of arrangements.
