Mary Evelyn Coe Reynolds Obituary

Mary Evelyn (Coe) Reynolds, 94, a long time resident of Corydon, Indiana, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday the 28th of October, 2020, at Harrison Healthcare Center, Corydon, Indiana, when God, the lover of her soul, came to walk through the valley of the shadow of death with her.  She loved her Lord more than any other person or thing, and is now rejoicing while meeting Him face to face in glory.

Mary Evelyn was born in New Albany, Floyd County, Indiana on 07/01/1926 to Guy N. and Maymie (Collins) Jordan.

At 16 years old, she married Napoleon Bonaparte Coe.  After his death in 1974, she was joined in marriage to Paul David Reynolds on June 24th, 2000.

She has served her Savior for many years in various ministries: as Sunday School teacher, missionary president, dorm mother at Ramsey Camp, pastor’s wife in the Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Connection, as missionary to Haiti, and while attending the Highlander Point Holiness Church in Floyd Knobs, Indiana, and is loved by many for her warm friendship, caring and godly life.

Surviving to honor her and remember her love are her three sisters Bonnie Jean Melton of Brandenburg KY, Doris Virginia Shaffer of Corydon IN, and Carrolyn Sue (Larry) Schmidt of Corydon IN; the families of her sister-in-law Wanda Coe and her brothers-in-law Raymond and David Coe; three step-children Sharon (Paul) Martin of Bentley KS, Dale (Vanita) Reynolds of Frankfort IN, and Esther (Randall) Burton of Vinton VA; ten step-grandchildren Stephen (Shannon) Martin, Sherilyn (Johan) Lee, Dwayne (Andrea) Reynolds, D. Angela (Robert) Shelenberger, Paul (Courtney) Burton, David (Vanessa) Burton, John (Kaitlyn) Burton, Ben (Rachel) Burton, William Burton, and Clarissa Burton; and several step-great grandchildren.  She also considered it wonderful to have so many precious nieces and nephews, and their families. The family would like to thank Marva Alstott for her love and friendship for Mary Evelyn over the years.

She has been preceded in death by her parents Guy N. and Maymie (Collins) Jordan; brothers David Milton(infant), Charles Edward “Bud”, and John Wesley; sisters Frances Ellen(infant) and Anna Louise Willard; brothers-in-law Woodie Melton Jr. and Paul W. Willard; nephew Daniel W. Shaffer; niece Mandy L. Wiseman; her first husband Napoleon Bonaparte Coe in 1974, and her second husband Paul David Reynolds in 2013.
