Mary C. Summers

Mary C. Summers, 95, of Corydon, died Thursday, June 27, 2019, at her home in Corydon.  She was born December 11, 1923, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Clement and Theresa Stafford Spath.  She was a member of the American Legion Bonnie Sloan Post 28 Ladies Auxiliary in New Albany.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert F. Summers, Sr.; her sons, Phillip Todd Summers and Herbie Summers; her daughter, Mary Ann Summers; her daughter in law, Donna Summers; her grandsons, Brian Summers and Bobby Hamilton; her brother, Clem Spath; and her sisters, Joan Cochran and Norma Spath.

Mary was a loving wife and mother and is survived by her sons, Clem Summers (Diane) of Wilmington, Delaware, Herbert “Lucky” Summers (Linda) of Corydon, Roy Summers of Corydon, and Jerry Summers (Brenda) of Marengo, Indiana; her daughter, Patricia A. Knight (Larry) of Charlestown, Indiana; her sister, Evelyn Bunch (Jim) of Seymour, Indiana, 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and her close friend, Ruth Gerdon.

The rosary will be prayed followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Father Jeremy Gries will officiate.  Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery in New Albany.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Pallbearers will be Bill, Tom, Mark, Derrick, Jacob, Dylan and Brandon Summers, and Chris Knight.
