Lois “Catherine” Hammond, 95, of Corydon, died Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Indian Creek Healthcare Center in Corydon.  She was born November 30, 1928, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Audron A. and Nellie W. Briles McCullum.  She was formerly employed at the old Indiana Army Ammunition Bag Plant near Charlestown, Indiana and at the Old Capitol Pub in Corydon, and was a member of Trinity Assembly of God Church near Corydon, the V.F.W. Post 2950 Ladies Auxiliary, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Old Capitol Aerie #2794 Ladies Auxiliary.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Sherman E. Wright, Sr. and Patrick L. Hammond; her son, Douglas D. Wright; her daughter, Sharon “Sue” Morris; and her brother, Ernest “Dean” McCullum.

 

Survivors include her son, Sherman E.  “Shay” Wright, Jr. (Patty); her daughter, Audrey Jean Smith; her brothers, Arkie McCullum and Denny McCullum; her sister, Linda Carol Wiseman; 13 grandchildren; and many great and great great grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Pastor Darren Carey will officiate.  Burial will be in Heidelberg Cemetery near Corydon.

 

Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday and after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

 

Pallbearers will be Shay Wright, Dennis Wiseman, Chad Bain, Jacob Carver, Dylan Rhodes, Ryan Steepleton, and Ace Morris.

 

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to Heidelberg Cemetery.
