Laura Ann Gardner, 60, of Corydon, Indiana, died Friday, February 13, 2026, at Kindred Hospital Louisville at Jewish Hospital. She was born April 27, 1965, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Clarence Don and Priscilla A. Louiso Mudd. Laura worked as a legal assistant and was a member of Oak Grove Church near Corydon.
Laura was a light to everyone who knew her. Sweet, kind, loving, and faithful, she had a presence that instantly brought warmth into any room she entered. She lived with a quiet strength and a heart deeply rooted in compassion for others.
Laura found great joy in tending to her flower beds, where her love for beauty and life bloomed alongside every plant she nurtured. She cherished time spent gardening, taking peaceful walks in nature, and feeling the peace of the ocean—she especially loved the beach and the calm it brought her.
With humility and grace, Laura dedicated herself to serving the elderly, faithfully sharing the love of Jesus in local nursing homes alongside her husband. A servant’s heart defined her life, which was marked by generosity and love.
Above all, Laura was devoted to her family.
Laura was preceded in death by her mother, Priscilla Mudd, whom she loved dearly and cared for with unwavering devotion until the Lord called her home.
Laura is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Allen Gardner; her daughter, Heather Pettit (Brent); her son, Michael Gardner; her four brothers, Edward Michael Mudd (Kathrine), Stephen Thomas Mudd (Jenn), Charles Patrick Louiso (Anna), Timothy Joseph Mudd (Marcy); and several nieces and nephews, who will forever hold her memory close.
Laura’s legacy is one of kindness, faith, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed, but her love continues to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
A memorial service will be at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon. Pastor Donnie Whitlow will officiate.
Visitation will begin after 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family requests that expression of sympathy be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, Maryland 21741 or at https://www.cancer.org/.
A Message from Her Daughter
Mom, you were always the light in every room, but even more than that, you were the light in my life. Your kindness, your gentleness, and your unwavering faith shaped who I am in ways I’m still discovering. You taught me how to love others selflessly, how to find beauty in the simple things, and how to serve with a joyful heart.
I will forever miss our conversations, your steady presence, and the way you made everyone feel seen and loved. I find comfort knowing that the same God you trusted so deeply is holding you now. Until we meet again, I will carry you with me—in every garden, every quiet moment in nature, and every act of kindness inspired by you.
I love you always.
— Heather
