Larry Sheckell, 71, of Lanesville, Indiana, died Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Indian Creek Healthcare Center in Corydon, Indiana.  He was born March 14, 1954, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Lawrence Owen and Mildred “Lucille” Schuley Sheckell.  He was a self-employed carpenter, was a former member of the Clark Masonic Lodge #40 F&AM in Jeffersonville, Indiana and the Scottish Rite Valley of Evansville, Indiana, and loved hunting and the outdoors.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Gerald Metz; and his sister-in-law, Melissa Metz.

 

Survivors include his wife, Angela Joy Metz Sheckell; his son, Larry Sheckell, Jr.; his daughter, Helen Sheckell Clifton; his mother-in-law, Ruth Metz; his grandchildren, Tiffany Hardin, Shawn Hardin, Kalob Clifton, and Shyla Hassett; and 3 great grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Chaplain George Payocong will officiate.  Burial will be in East Cemetery near Leavenworth, Indiana.

 

Visitation will be from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday and after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

 

The family would like to extend a special "Thank You" to the staff of Indian Creek Healthcare Center and Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care.

 

Pallbearers will be Larry Sheckell, Jr., Shane Metz, Tiffany Hardin, Shawn Hardin, Kalob Clifton, Zachary Metz, Nicholas Metz and Jacob Metz.
