Lambert Paul Elbert Obituary

Lambert Paul Elbert, 101, of Corydon, died Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at the Robley Rex VA Medical Center in Louisville, Kentucky.  He was born January 14, 1923, in Dogwood, Indiana, to the late Sidney M. and Curtie Crecelius Elbert.  He was the owner and operator of Elbert’s Barber Shop in Corydon, was retired from Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation in Louisville, was a member of the V.F.W. Post 2950 in Corydon, and was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, having been the recipient of two Purple Heart medals and the French Legion of Honor Award.  Lambert also loved woodworking, gardening and fishing, and was the biggest prankster and storyteller.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean Hurst Elbert; his great grandson, Tyler Elbert; his brother, Sidney Elbert, Jr.; and his sisters, Ann Eckart and Laura Smith.

 

Survivors include his sons, Randy P. Elbert (Loni) of Edinburgh, Indiana, Jim M. Elbert of Corydon, Steve E. Elbert (Rhonda) of Corydon, Richard J. Elbert (Rena) of Columbus, Indiana, and John A. Elbert (Kathy) of Jeffersonville, Indiana; his daughters, Connie M. Lahue (Don) of Leavenworth, Indiana, Mary Ann Wells (Rusty) of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Cathy J. McCarty (Roy Jr.) of Corydon; 17 grandchildren; and 30 great grandchildren.

 

His funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Corydon.  Father Kyle Rodden will officiate.  Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Corydon.

 

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon. 

 

Pallbearers will be Damon Lahue, Todd Elbert, Mike Elbert, Travis Elbert, Jason Elbert, Derek Elbert, Michael McCarty, and Harrison Wells.
