Joyce Sutherland Beard

Joyce Sutherland Beard, 87, of Elizabeth, Indiana, died Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Bennett Place in New Albany, Indiana.  She was born June 24, 1936, in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky, to the late Oscar and Frances Sutherland.  She was a member of Graceland Baptist Church in New Albany and the Laconia Homemakers Club, and she loved embroidery, hand quilting, cooking and cleaning.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde R. Beard; and her brothers, Hollis, Thomas, and Danny Sutherland.

Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Kaye Ellis (Scot) of Floyds Knobs, Indiana; her grandchildren, Ben and Lydia Ellis; and her brothers, Virgil, Darrell, Keith, and Butch Sutherland.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 16, 2023, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Pastor Jon Pearce will officiate.  Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.

Visitation will be from 12:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, and after 9:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
