John Albert Cunningham, Sr., 83, of Corydon, died Friday, January 14, 2022, at The Villages at Historic Silvercrest in New Albany, Indiana. He was born September 6, 1938, in Corydon, to the late Floyd and Aliene Heishman Cunningham. He was retired from the U.S. Navy after 26 years and was a member of the Mauckport United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, P. Maxine Cannon Cunningham; and his brothers, Frank and Joe Cunningham.
Survivors include his sons, John A. Cunningham, Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio and Jeffrey A. Cunningham (Lesa) of New Salisbury, Indiana; his daughter, Penny M. Clinard (Mike) of Louisville, Kentucky; his brothers, Floyd Cunningham (Dinah) of English, Indiana, and Fred Cunningham (Betty) and James Cunningham (Pat) both of Florida; his sister, Dorothy Lemmon of New Albany; 2 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon. Pastor Donnie Whitlow will officiate. Burial will be in Central Cemetery in Central, Indiana.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Kelly and Samuel Cunningham, Mike and Sam Clinard, Greg Tatum, and Nathan Lewis.
