Joann Yates Obituary

Joann Watson Yates, 78, of Corydon, died Saturday, April 25, 2020, at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon.  She was born May 24, 1941, in Harrison County, Indiana, to the late Paul and Donnie L. Stoner Watson.  She was a devoted wife, protective mother and loving mamaw.  She was a former employee of the Harrison County Convention and Visitors Bureau and a 30 year employee of the Fair Store in Corydon.  She was a member of First Capital Christian Church and a former member of the Corydon Baptist Church.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Robert Lee Yates, Sr.; her brother, Samuel Watson; her twin sisters, Ramona Jean and Naomi Jane Watson; and her great granddaughter, Hope Serenity Yates.

 

Survivors include her sons, Robert L. Yates, Jr. (Sherry) of Corydon, Eric M. Yates (Tassy) of Beverly, Ohio and Chris Watson of Corydon; her brother, Carl Edward Watson (Naomi) of Corydon; her grandchildren, Julie Conrad (Paul), Melissa Agan (John), Susan Becht (Colt), Sarah Watt (Brian), Laura Yates, Jacob Yates and Ora Yates; her great grandchildren, Braden Conrad, Bailey Conrad, Cash Becht, Reese Becht, Carly Becht, Aubrey Watt, Lucas Watt, Eliza Agan, John Agan and Henry Agan; and her step grandchildren, Kirk Kern, Alyssa Kern and Alayna Kern.

 

Funeral services will be private at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.

 

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to First Capital Christian Church in Corydon.
