Jimmie W. Crone, 75, of Corydon, died Saturday, February 17, 2024, at his home in Corydon.  He was born February 2, 1949, in Harrison County, Indiana, to the late Ray G. and Doris M. Rowe Crone.  He was retired from LNA&C Railroad and D.J. Windell, Inc. electric contractors, was a member of the American Legion in Corydon, was a member of the Christian faith, and was a U.S. Army veteran.  Jimmie was a loving husband, father and papaw, and will be missed dearly by all his family and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Karen Payton, Cindy Mathes, Janet Crawford, Pattie Emily, and Beverly Spalding.

 

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Betty R. Stepro Crone; his sons, JimRay Crone (Stephanie) and Dennis Crone (Allison); his grandchildren, Nicholas Smythe, Nathaniel Smythe, Kaitlynn Crone, Jordan Crone, Christopher Smythe, Hunter Crone, and Ashton Crone; his great granddaughter, Oakley Mae Bowman; his brother, Jerry Crone (Lori); and his sisters, Kathy Hood and Debbie Johnson (Fred).

 

Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 23, 2024, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Pastor Darren Carey will officiate.  Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon.

 

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday and after 10:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

 

Pallbearers will be Hunter Crone, Brian Emily, Brandon Crone, Jordan Crone, Dakota Bowman, and Adam Freiberger.  Honorary pallbearers will be Nicholas, Nathaniel and Christopher Smythe.
