James L. Bateman, 86, of Lanesville, died Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Indiana. He was born May 19, 1937, in Washington, Indiana, to the late Lester and Helen Nail Bateman. He was retired from CSX Railroad, was formerly employed at Walmart in Corydon, and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. James loved gardening, fishing, and watching IU basketball and St. Louis baseball.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; and 1 grandson.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Sally L. Meyers Bateman; his daughter, Angela Walker (Michael) of Washington, Indiana; his son, David Bateman of Clinton, Indiana; his step son, Gregory Sinclair of Lanesville; 4 grandchildren; and 1 great grandson.
As James requested, funeral services will be private at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
