James K. “Squirrel” Withers, Sr., 93, of Laconia, died Saturday, October 9, 2021, at his home near Laconia. He was born June 16, 1928, in West Point, Kentucky, to the late Jesse “Hood” and Julia Kintner Withers. He was a retired truck driver with E&L Transport in Louisville, was a farmer, and was a member of the Teamsters Union Local 89 in Louisville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Anna Gladys McKim Withers; his second wife, Millie; his son, James K. “Squeek” Withers, Jr.; his daughter, Diana Sue Heagey; and his brother, Claude “Henry” Withers, Sr..
Survivors include his son, Rick A. Withers (Patti) of Lanesville; his brother, George Withers of Walkertown, North Carolina; his grandchildren, James, Joe, Jon, Julie, and Jesse Withers, and Creston Soloby; and his great grandchildren, Mason, Matyson, Molly, Max, Reese, Hudson, Jimmy, Julia, and Robert Withers, and Elise and Spencer Soloby.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon. Rev. Webster Oglesby will officiate. Burial will be in Central Cemetery in Central, Indiana.
Visitation will be from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday and after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be James, Joe, Jon, Jesse, Mason and Jimmy Withers.
