Hugh Phillip Burns, 69, of Elizabeth, Indiana, died Saturday, May 14, 2022, at his home in Elizabeth. He was born January 15, 1953, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late Hobart and Alberta Meade Burns. He was a retired proud journeyman pipefitter Local 522/502 in Louisville, a member of the United Association of Journeyman Pipefitters and the current clerk treasurer and town manager of Elizabeth, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant son, Jamie Burns; his infant brother, Monte Burns; and his stepbrother, Tony Hall.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Beverly Ann Williar Burns; his son, Matthew Burns(Wansiri) of Elizabeth; his daughter, Crystal Burns(Shannon) of Lexington, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Summer, Abigale and Phoenix Burns; his sisters, Belinda Miller of Laconia, Indiana, Sandra Burns of Elizabeth and Tammy Toney(Stewart) of Corydon, Indiana; his nephew, William McNicol of Jeffersonville, Indiana; and his nieces April and Sarah.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon. Rev. Leland Parks will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Elizabeth.
Visitation will be from 3:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday and after 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be William McNicol, Mike Hecht, Austin Knear, John Haas, Paul Brown and Robert Hecht.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the South Harrison Community Center in Elizabeth.
