Harold Lewis Gardner Obituary

Harold Lewis Gardner, 77, of Depauw, Indiana, died Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Indiana with his wife, Virginia, and children by his side.

Harold was born January 21, 1949 to the late Jesse Harold Gardner and Emaleen Richardson Gardner.  He met his wife, Virginia Kintner Kerber, and they were married on December 8, 1990 at Epiphany Lutheran Church in New Salisbury, Indiana.  Harold worked as a Respiratory Therapist at Harrison County Hospital in Corydon, Indiana and at Floyd Memorial Hospital in New Albany.  Harold and Virginia have four children, Jennifer Suzette Gardner (deceased), T. Jason Kerber (Elaine Losey), James Harold Gardner (Stacia Payton), and Jarrod Dalton Kerber (Mary Webb).  They made their home in Depauw.  They have seven grandchildren, Maxwell Kerber (Abigail Jaworski), Grahm Kerber, Jarrod Kerber Jr., Miles Kerber, Maggie Kerber, Morgan Kerber, and Delaney Gardner.

Harold was an avid UK fan and loved cars and car races.  Most of all, Harold loved his family, especially his children and grandchildren.  He and Virginia enjoyed when they came to the country and played an assortment of games and went four wheeling with them.  He was so proud of all their children and daughters-in-law being college graduates and bringing their children up in Christian homes.  He enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up and make their own paths in life.  If any child or grandchild needed a vehicle, Papaw Harold would research and find them a bargain.  Harold was a gentle giant and had several health issues and accidents over the years that he fought hard and came out on top.  His most recent health issues became too much for him and God, seeing his suffering, called Harold home to heaven to be with his Jennifer again.  He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him.

Harold was preceded in death by his three sisters, Emma Jean Williams, Peggy Ann Stiles, and Darlene Boyd (Herman Boyd).  His brother-in-law, Jack Stiles, perhaps an even more avid UK fan, survives and was one of Harold’s best friends.  Harold also left behind too many nieces and nephews to list.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 2, 2026, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Pastor Michael Boyd will officiate.  Burial will be in Blue River Chapel Cemetery near Corydon.
