Gerald Douglas “Jerry” Frye, 71, of Corydon, died Monday, October 5, 2020, at his home near Corydon. He was born March 24, 1949, in Coaldale, Pennsylvania, to the late George and Beatrice Harris Frye. He was a retired welder at Tower Automotive in Corydon, attended Lincoln Hills Christian Church in Corydon, and was a retired Gunnery Sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps after twenty years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Tammy Stockdale; his brother, Oliver Frye; and his sisters, Florence Gerhart, Betty Fluk and Anna Witner.
Survivors include his wife, Alice M. Barks Yeager-Frye; his daughters, Michelle Carr (Chris), Kimberley Lynn Sohn (David), Peggy Sue Ullom (Cameron), and Kimberly Michelle Barton (Junior); his stepsons, Randy Yeager (Angie), Donnie Yeager (Denise), and David Yeager; his brothers, George Frye and Richard Frye (Tina); his sisters, Georgine Davidheiser, and Delores Kletzing; his brothers in law, Al Witner and Paul Barks (Cindy); his sisters in law, Fern Lawrence (Bud) and Rose Barks; 22 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 10, 2020, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon. Rev. Webster Oglesby will officiate. Burial will be in New Amsterdam Cemetery in New Amsterdam.
Visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday and after 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be SSgt. Peggy Frye Ullom, 1LT Connor Ullom, Michelle Carr, Christopher Carr, Kelly McCormick and Ret. US Army 1st Sgt. Carl Lindsey. Honorary pallbearers will be Randy, Donnie and David Yeager.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to New Amsterdam Cemetery.
