George Carl Nye, 85, of Corydon, Indiana, died Thursday, September 25, 2025, at his home near Corydon.  He was born April 24, 1940, in Harrison County, Indiana, to the late Russell Seth Nye and Catherine Ann Walsh Nye.  He was a retired gantry crane operator at Jeffboat in Jeffersonville, Indiana, was a foreman at the old Whiteley Poultry Company in Corydon, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Henryville, Indiana, and Oak Grove United Methodist Church and Gethsemane Lutheran Church both near Corydon.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ida Mae McIntosh Nye; and his brothers, Joseph, William and Gene Nye.

 

Survivors include his sons, George Morgan Nye (Stacy Mattenley) and James Russell Nye (Cheryl); his daughter, April Rose Sanders (Scott); his sister, Molly McClellan; his grandchildren, Sheree Byrd (John Prather), Deirdre Jones (Richard), Kristina Black (Shane), Brittany Nye, Mariah Jo Nye (Katie), Jimma Henderson (Jesse Zink), Chance Nye, Rena Patton, and Megan Dones (Alec); and 10 great grandchildren.

 

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 2025, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Burial will be in Heidelberg Cemetery near Corydon.

 

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Saturday and after 10:00 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

 

There will be masonic rites at 7:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
