Frank M. Bill, Sr. Obituary

Frank M. Bill, Sr., 77, of Corydon, Indiana, sadly passed on Thursday, December 25, 2025, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Indiana, surrounded by his wife, kids and in-laws.  He was born February 4, 1948, in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, to the late Claude R. Bill and Myrtle M. Reising Bill.  Frank was a loving husband, father and grandfather with an uncanny sense of humor and a life-long time of service to his community and country.

After graduating from Corydon Central High School in 1967, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps where he was trained as a Combat Engineer (mine sweeper).  He shipped to Vietnam in December of 1967, was stationed in Da Nang until January of 1969, was part of the 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, where he swept roads daily with a tankard division, but also blew up NVA bunkers, bridges and hidden weapons caches during search and destroy missions, and was a jack of all trades.  He would sustain injuries during a routine mine sweep that would earn him a Purple Heart (2012) and the Navy Commendation Medal (1968) for outstanding performance in operation Allen Brook.

After time served in the U.S. Marine Corps, he would settle back to Corydon, enjoying fishing and hunting, and landing a job at Brown & Williamson Tobacco Corporation from 1970 until 1980, then he would become an insurance salesman and re-enlist into the U.S. military with the Army Reserves while tending bar on the side at the Overlook Restaurant, Donahue’s, and at the V.F.W. Post 2950.

He would sell insurance with the Bill Insurance Agency, American Family Insurance and Insurance Corp. (as V.P.) until his retirement for military duty as a Master Sergeant and from selling insurance.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Claude William Bill and John “Jack” Bill.

Survivors include his wife, Julie Bill; his son, Frank M. Bill, Jr. of Corydon; his stepson, Stephen Glaspie of Chicago, Illinois; his daughters, Brandy Robertson of New Albany, Carrie Bill of Corydon and Stephanie Johnson of Laconia, Indiana; his daughter in-law, Jennifer Bill; his sons in-law, Casey Robertson and Gary Johnson; 4 grandchildren; his half-brother, Clarence Wayne Conrad; and his beloved little kitten (Puss).

Frank never met a stranger, was a storyteller and friend to many and loved by all who crossed paths with him.
