Emma Jean Hobdy Ewing Hiser, 89, of Louisville, passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Harrison Healthcare Center in Corydon, Indiana. She was born January 6, 1935, in Toledo, Ohio, to the late James Hobdy and Virginia Spence. She was employed as a social worker at Neighborhood House in Louisville for 12 years and was the owner of Mom’s Place restaurant in Louisville, where she was famous for 5 for $1.00 sliders. She loved to play BINGO, work puzzle books, travel, and caring for her cats, Spooks and Peekaboo. Emma loved her family unconditionally and will be missed by all her family and friends. Rest in peace our sweet angel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her children, Teri Wilson, Virgie Ewing and Jimmy Ewing; her son in law, Willie; and her grandson, Bentley.
Survivors include her daughter, Debby Elder of Corydon; her son, Richard Ewing (Jamie) of Taylorsville, Kentucky; her grandchildren, Tami Comer (Dean) of Corydon, Lisa Wilson of Jeffersonville, Indiana, and Angela Hoskins (Will) of Louisville; 11 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren.
The family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.
