Elizabeth Jane Deatrick Richardson Obituary

Elizabeth Jane Deatrick Richardson, 79, of Elizabeth, died Sunday, November 12, 2023 at her home near Elizabeth.  She was born on March 10, 1944, at the family farm near Elizabeth, to the late Clarence and Mary Frances Cabell Deatrick.  She was a lifelong member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New Middletown, Indiana, where she was baptized on April 1, 1944.  After attending New Middletown Elementary School for two years, she graduated from St. Joseph Elementary School in Corydon, and then from Corydon Central High School and from Spencerian School of Business in Louisville.  After working at the State House in Indianapolis for a short time, she returned to the family farm, where she was born and raised.  Elizabeth worked for several years at M. Fine and Sons Shirt Factory in New Albany and in the medical records department at Children’s Hospital in Louisville.  Elizabeth loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and family, gardening and was known for her quiet, efficient, hardworking and friendly way.  Her life centered around her faith and family. 

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Martin E. Richardson; her brother, Charles Bernard Deatrick; and her nephews, Michael Grismore, Jason Grismore, and Chucky Deatrick.

 

Survivors include her daughter, Lisa Jean Richardson of Elizabeth; her son, Marc A. Richardson of Elizabeth; her grandchildren, Jordyn and Brady Richardson; her sisters, Juanita Krogh (Les) of Woodbridge, Virginia, Patricia Grismore of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, Teresa King (Charlie) of Elizabeth, and Janice Lind (Darrell) of Elizabeth; her brother, Ron Deatrick (Sherry) of Corydon; her Goddaughter, Holly Lind; and many loving nieces and nephews.

 

Her funeral mass will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2023, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church in New Middletown.  Burial will be in Most Precious Blood Cemetery, where her parents, grandparents, great grandparents, and other family members are buried.

 

Visitation will be from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday and from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Monday at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.

 

Pallbearers will be Marc Richardson, Brady Richardson, Josh Lind, Nathan Lind, Emmett Lind, Everett Lind, Jacob Pugh, Jason Powers, Jason Schneider, Danny McPhillips, Jacob Klinefelter, and Taylor Klinefelter.  Honorary pallbearer will be Eddie Deatrick.
