Donald R. Sturgeon

Donald R. Sturgeon, 81, of Leavenworth, died Sunday, April 12, 2020, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Indiana.  He was born August 13, 1938, in Grantsburg, Indiana.  He worked at Galvan Manufacturing in New Albany for several years and then at Tube Turns in Louisville for 33 years as a machine operator and dispatcher.  Donald attended Holy Mount Holiness Church of Crawford County, was an avid hunter and fisherman in his spare time, and was a talented knife maker and taxidermist.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell Sturgeon and Junie Mae Sheckells Perkins; and his son in law, John Sillings.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Norma J. Patterson Sturgeon; his son, Scott Sturgeon (Stephanie); his daughters, Sandy Copler (Ed) and Janice Sillings; his grandchildren, Brittany Bruce (Chris), Dylan Byrd (Courtney), Jared Sturgeon (Abbey), Kelsey Sturgeon, Jonathan Sillings (Nikki), and Lucas Sillings (Mariah); his great grandson, Walker Graham Byrd; his brother, Rusty Sturgeon (Linda); and his sister, Doris Riggs (George).

Funeral services will be private at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Burial will be in Bloom Riddle Cemetery near Leavenworth.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to Holy Mount Holiness Church of Crawford County.
