David W. Harter, 82, of New Amsterdam, Indiana, died Saturday, November 30, 2024, at his home in New Amsterdam.  He was born April 23, 1942, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Harry F. and Mildred F. Stone Harter.  He was a retired Senior Commercial Product Engineer. 

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Anthony J. Harter; his brother, Roy Duke Harter; and his sister, Janice Joy Harter.

 

Survivors include his wife, Sandra S. Garvin Harter; his son, Brian D. Harter (Heather); his daughters, Melissa D. Shaffer (Andy) and Gail Marie Wallace (Bryan); his grandchildren, April Lovelace (John), CD Shaffer, Sarah Shaffer, Meagan Wallace and Liam Wallace; and his great grandchildren, Harper Lovelace and Jacob Lovelace.

 

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Burial will be in New Amsterdam Cemetery in New Amsterdam.

 

Visitation will be from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday and after 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

 

Pallbearers will be Bryan Wallace, Meagan Wallace, CD Shaffer and Sarah Shaffer.

 

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the New Amsterdam Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
