Claude “Henry” Withers, Sr., 90, of Laconia, died Wednesday, December 9, 2020, at his home near Laconia. He was born December 25, 1929, in New Albany, Indiana, to the late Jesse Hood and Julia Kintner Withers. Henry was a farmer, was a member of Union Chapel Christian Church near Laconia, and had given his life to the Lord.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Jerry Wayne Withers; and 1 great granddaughter.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Shields Withers; his sons, Claude Henry “Hank” Withers, Jr. (Jennifer) of Corydon and Thomas Allen Withers (Donna) of Elizabeth; his daughters, Jo Ann Schoen and Joy Gayle Wolfe both of Corydon; his daughter in law, Beverly Withers of New Albany; his brothers, James Withers of Laconia and George Withers of Walkertown, North Carolina; 12 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be for family only on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
The family asks that friends who would like to pay their final respects, gather at the 4 way stop in Laconia at 2:15 p.m. Sunday, as Henry’s funeral procession passes by.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to Union Chapel Christian Church, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, WHAS Crusade for Children, or the charity of your choice.
