Betty Jo Withers, 95, of Laconia, Indiana, died Saturday, February 28, 2026, at BeeHive Homes in Georgetown, Indiana. She was born April 16, 1930, in Laconia, to the late Loran Maurice “Tommy” Shields and Martha Best Shields. She was a homemaker, was a member of Union Chapel Christian Church near Laconia and the Laconia Homemakers Club, loved antiquing, square dancing, collecting Zimmerman Art Glass, and especially attending her grandkids events.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Claude “Henry” Withers, Sr.; her son Jerry Wayne Withers; her brother, William R. “Billy” Shields; and 1 great granddaughter.
Survivors include her sons, Claude Henry “Hank” Withers, Jr. (Jennifer) of Corydon, Indiana and Thomas Allen Withers (Donna) of Elizabeth, Indiana; her daughters, Jo Ann Schoen and Joy Gayle Wolfe both of Corydon; her daughter in law, Beverly Withers of New Albany, Indiana; her sister, Myrna Cunningham (Gary) of Floyds Knobs, Indiana; 12 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2026, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon. Rev. Richard Goodwin will officiate. Burial will be in Rehoboth Cemetery near Laconia.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday and after 9:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Schoen, Nathan Withers, Jon Mathes, Bradley Withers, Ben Mathes, and Andrew Withers. Honorary pallbearers will be Lisa Beckingham, Karen Withers, Angela Schmelz, Amanda Withers, Ashley Rhinehart, and Stannye Hasenour.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to Union Chapel Christian Church or the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana.
