Ben I. Woodward

Ben I. Woodward, Jr., 74, of Coal Valley, Illinois, formerly of Mauckport, Indiana, died Saturday, March 18, 2023, at home away from his home.

A celebration of remembrance will be held at Coal Creek Inn, Coal Valley, on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 5:00 p.m. An additional memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home, Corydon, Indiana. Visitation will be after 9:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Burial is at New Amsterdam Cemetery, immediately followed by a gathering at the Pavilion in New Amsterdam.

Ben Irvin Woodward, Jr. was born November 30, 1948, in New Albany, Indiana, the son of Ben I. and Frances Marie (Endris) Woodward, Sr.

Ben proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked on the family farm, in construction, and as a millwright. Ben was a jack of all trades, he loved hunting, fishing, and family time. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post #2950.

Ben was preceded in death by his father and mother, Ben and Frances Woodward; brothers, John and Murray Woodward; and a grandson, Daniel Boren. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-laws, Stephanie and Jeff Reed of Coal Valley, and Valerie and Scott Dockery of Haubstadt, Indiana; grandchildren, Natasha, Kelsey, Jacklyn, Ben and Jacob; five great grandchildren with two on the way; and siblings, Matt Woodward (Amy), Chris Woodward (Lara), Vickie Denbo, Janet Burnett, Beverly Withers, Laura Woodward and Nancy Yeager.
