Barbara Gene Short

Barbara Gene Short, 75, of Corydon, died Saturday, September 19, 2020, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Indiana.  She was born March 26, 1945, at Clear Creek, Kentucky (Knott County), to the late Leonard and Phamie Ritchie Singleton.  Mamaw Barb was an avid lover of her family.  Papaw, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren all knew it.  She loved sewing and almost every Halloween you could find her grandchildren in elaborate homemade costumes.  She loved baking, flowers, birds, Jeopardy and crosswords.  She was always known for her cookies and peanut butter pie.  She had an “I Love You” as big as the sky and a vibe where you always knew she loved you.  She may have been small but what she gave this world was so big.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandson, Wyatt Davison; her brothers, Colvin Singleton, Eddie Singleton and Boyce Singleton and his wife, Shirley; and her sisters, Sheba J. Jones and Oneida Waddles.

Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Billy Short; her son, Richard Short (Andrea Karem) of New Albany; her daughter, Melissa Cesar (Chad) of Corydon; her grandchildren, Courtney Short (Justin Smith), Savanah Davison-Cesar, Shelby Rhodes (Dylan), and Sophia Cesar; her great grandchildren, Skyla Buzek, Larken, Linken and Ledger Carrillo, and Henry and Lainey Rhodes; her brother, Sam Singleton (Shirley) of Guntersville, Alabama; and her sister, Sue Mullins (Abe) of Caneyville, Kentucky.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2020, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.
