Barbara A. Jones

Barbara A. Jones, 82, of Marengo, died Saturday, November 4, 2023, at Harrison Healthcare Center in Corydon.  She was born January 12, 1941, in Louisville, Kentucky, to the late James Alvin Marcum, Sr. and Nellie Cleo Witten Marcum.  She was a retired housekeeper with contracting companies, was a former member of the Order of Eastern Star in Crandall, Indiana, and was of the Christian faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merle Jones; her brother, James Alvin “Jimmy” Marcum, Jr.; and her sisters, Mary Louise Byerley, Deborah Shorter, and Jeannie Sullivan.

Survivors include her sons, Wayne McCollum of Clarksville, Indiana, Robert McCollum of Depauw, Indiana, David McCollum of North Carolina, and Dr. John McCollum of Corydon; her sister, Cleo Trimmer of Clarksville, Indiana; her grandchildren, Maggie, Amanda, John, Bill, Sam, Annie, and Michael; many great grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews, including Diane Trowbridge who cared for her, and great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.  Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery near Crandall.

Visitation will be after 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Loyd Byerley, Michael Trowbridge, Jesse Trowbridge, Brandon Trowbridge, Cory Haun, and Justin Wallot.
