Albert E. Shewmaker, 96, of New Salisbury, died Monday, November 11, 2019, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany. He was born July 9, 1923, in Elizabeth, Indiana, to the late Jesse and Edna Best Shewmaker. Albert was an avid bluegrass and country music lover and loved to fish and play cards. He was retired from General Electric in Louisville and was a United States Army veteran of World War II, having served in the 82nd Airborne Division.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his sons-in-law, Darrell Lowe, Sr. and Jim McInnis; his granddaughter, Sarah Jameson; his great grandson, Taylor Jones; his brothers, Wayne, Joe, Pete and Bob Shewmaker; and his sisters, Lucille Hendricks, Mary Carroll and Helen Shewmaker.
Survivors include his daughters, Karen Lowe of New Salisbury, Deborah McInnis of Ness City, Kansas, Sherri Weippert of Garden City, Kansas and Anita Burditt (Keith) of Ness City, Kansas; his sister, Julia Baker of Corydon; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon. Rev. Paul Holt will officiate.
Visitation will be after 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
