R. Faye Baumgart

R. Faye Baumgart, 86, of Lanesville, died Sunday, March 25, 2018, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, Indiana.  She was born March 22, 1932, in Elizabeth, Indiana, to the late Jesse and Mary Keen Speigelhalder.  She worked in accounting at First Federal Savings and Loan in New Albany, was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church near Lanesville, where she was a member of the Martha Society, and was a former Harrison County 4-H leader.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Wilhelmina Grimes, Idena Scull and Ethel Farnsley; and her brothers, Harold and Jesse Speigelhalder.

Survivors include her husband, Willis L. “Hook” Baumgart; her daughters, Paula Cates (Rick) of Lanesville and Carol Baumgart of Corydon; her sister, Martha Breeden of Mauckport, Indiana; her grandchildren, Nathan Cates (Christy), Dustin Cates (Paris), Jonathan Cates (Kayla), Tara Nichols (Chris), Jacob Chanley and Danielle Haire; and 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at St. John’s Lutheran Church.  Pastor Ronald Richeson will officiate.  Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday and from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.

The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church.

Pallbearers will be Nathan, Dustin, and Jonathan Cates, Jacob Chanley, Jim Gunther and Chris Gunther.
